Tooth Fillings
Explained

Dental fillings are recommended to restore function and appearance of decayed, deformed or fractured tooth/teeth. There are different kinds of filling materials and based on the extent of decay and the tooth’s location, we will recommend a specific type of filling for you.

What Steps Are Involved in Filling a Tooth?

First, the dentist will use a local anesthetic to numb the area around the tooth to be filled. Next, a drill, air abrasion instrument, or laser will be used to remove the decayed area. The choice of instrument depends on the location and extent of the decay.

Next, your dentist will probe or test the area to determine if all the decay has been removed. Once the decay has been removed, the dentist will prepare the space for the filling by cleaning the cavity of bacteria and debris. If the decay is near the root, your dentist may first put in a liner made of glass ionomer, composite resin, or other material to protect the nerve. Generally, after the filling is in, your dentist will finish and polish it.

Several additional steps are required for tooth-colored fillings and are as follows. After your dentist has removed the decay and cleaned the area, the tooth-colored material is applied in layers. Next, a special light that “cures” or hardens each layer is applied. When the multi layering process is completed, the dentist will shape the composite material to the desired result, trim off any excess material, and polish the final restoration.

What Types of Filling Materials Are Available?

Today, several dental filling materials are available. Teeth can be filled with gold; porcelain; silver amalgam (which consists of mercury mixed with silver, tin, zinc, and copper); or tooth-colored, plastic, and materials called composite resin fillings. There is also a material that contains glass particles and is known as glass ionomer. This material is used in ways similar to the use of composite resin fillings.

The location and extent of the decay, cost of filling material, your insurance coverage, and dentist’s recommendation assist in determining the type of filling best for you.

I have visited last year 2019 to tooth fill up. After a week started a problem. I contacted them specially dr Anita. She asked me to come back with no charges. I went there. Dr Anita fixed it but one month later again started more big problems. Dr Anita has no good experience. She is new learner dentist. Also charge a large bill. It’s a one kind of robing people. Unnecessary extra charge for X-ray. do not provide a receipt too. I do not recommend any person to go there. Better search experience dentist in your area.
Hospitality is very poor. Specially Ashok yadav at reception had very poor attitude. In totality, I felt it’s a cheating and wrong place for treatment. No good knowledge about dental treatment. Be careful !!!!

Nice dental place in Bramalea area. Dr Gupta is an expert at what she does. She’s very friendly, and is willing to accommodate if you have special requirements. They are also flexible with time of appointments and in fact agreed to close the place after their usual closing time for me. I have been there more than 3 times, and will return. Recommended!!

“Very Pleasant Indeed”
It was a very pleasant meeting with Dr Anita and her team. I was suffering from a toothache and infection very badly. I was thinking of removing my tooth as it was bothering a lot . She is very professional in explaining and providing valuable suggestions and options. I must say “Thank you” for saving my tooth. I felt like two hours for my procedure went by so quick. It is not easy to find a good Dentist for a family and especially for Kids. My daughter says “I like my Dentist”.
I highly recommend Dr. Anita and her team for your Family .

I was so scared of going to dentist…. always tried to cancel/postponed my appointment.
When I went for a consult appointment….. I could see what was going on and Dr. Anita was so kind, honest and understanding and she took the time to address my concerns. Also loved the staff and office…
